Retro devotees might already be familiar with vintage furniture restoration brand Florrie + Bill’s revamped 50s cocktail chairs and Ercol furniture. Now it’s teamed up with multi-award winning wallpaper and British textile designer Abigail Borg to create the new Botanical collection – a three-piece range of cocktail chairs upholstered with Abigail’s signature illustrative botanical fabric designs.
An upcycling success story, Florrie + Bill is a prime example of the beautiful results revamping furniture can yield, and taps into the wider trend for customising, crafting and breathing new life into tired pieces.
This latest collaboration modernises classic chairs with Abigail’s digitally printed fabrics, complementing the chairs' original features. Founder Amy Cawston’s idea for the collection came into being when she uncovered some vintage floral fabrics whilst stripping down one of her chairs. Amy explains: “I realised how beautiful a floral design could look, and Abigail’s hand drawn designs are the perfect fit for this style of chair as the colouring and style hint at a bygone era.”
We love the creamy colour palette of the Laburnum cocktail chair (above), with its tumbling Rhododendrons and raspberry Pom-Pom Dahlias. What better way to update your space for spring?
