The Eclectic Home of Fashion Designers Humphries & Begg

Hat collections, vintage suitcases and antique finds, this home's a lesson in eccentric boho style.

Bohemian, relaxed and, above all, fun – the Notting Hill home of Alice Begg and Robbie Humphries matches the style of their clothing line, Humphries & Begg, to a T. Surrounding themselves with quirky finds, fabrics, haberdashery and an impressive collection of hats from their travels, their home is the result of a passion for trawling antiques markets such as Ardingly, Kempton, Shepton Mallet, and of course, Portobello market, right on their doorstep.

Kitsch kitchen

The kitchen has a quintessentially vintage vibe, thanks to painted cabinets in blue and red, a kitchen table in an evocative 1950s-green and cheerful fabric bunting strung up around the room.

Recreate the pale blue kitchen walls with First Dawn, and go for a brighter blue on kitchen cabinetry – Blue Lagoon will do the trick nicely. Contrast with a red kickboard in Volcanic Splash 3.

Laid-back living

The living space is all faded grandeur and cosy comforts – lofty ceilings and grand proportions are warmed up with an earthy paint shade in a textured finish. Meanwhile, a cornucopia of curiosities, tasseled lamps and embroidered textiles add flavour and personality to the room. Granny-chic at its most stylish.

Muted yellows such as Sun Dust will bring a glow to any space, especially if there's an abundance of natural light. Build up a few coats and lightly sand down patches of the wall by hand to achieve an aged look like this.

Duvet days

The bedroom offers another fine opportunity to showcase the couple's collection of Indian fabrics and market stall treasures. Packed with clever improvisations such as stacked wooden crates for clothes storage and vintage suitcases for nightstands, it goes to show how a little resourcefulness goes a long way.

Alice and Robbie have chosen a serene white backdrop for their bedroom walls, but have picked out the door frame and panels with an uplifting hint of blue. Try Sea Blue to get a similar look. Display your favourite garments outside of your wardrobe and hang on the walls for an instantly changeable piece of art.
