My Colour Story: I used Simply Refresh to make my home my sanctuary

The world events over the last year has made Lucy’s home her safe place. This feeling is something she wanted to reflect in the décor, turning her East London flat into her stylish sanctuary. Starting with creating a relaxing and tranquil bedroom in just an afternoon, using Simply Refresh.

Less time painting, more time playing

With the sun coming out to play, Lucy wanted to spend as much time as possible outdoors, and less time indoors painting.

“I wanted to use the Simply Refresh range to save us some time. The weather has been so nice lately and I wanted to make sure we weren't spending an entire weekend indoors painting the walls!” says Lucy.

“I couldn't believe it only took one coat! With some products it's easy to assume these things are just a claim but it went on like a dream and dried so evenly. We didn't need to do any touch-ups and we really were ready to use the room after a few hours.”

Super-fast split wall design

Quick transformations don’t have to be basic, the ease of Simply Refresh means you can get creative and spend time doing other things you love – like relaxing in the sun.

To add subtle colours into her bedroom, Lucy created a split wall, using two serene shades, Egyptian Cotton and Tranquil Dawn.

“We went for Egyptian Cotton, a classic shade I've always wanted to use. For the wall between the wardrobe, we created a divide and painted the bottom half in Tranquil Dawn, a soft sage. It kept the cosy feel of the room but added a unique touch to the space,” says Lucy.

“We painted the Egyptian Cotton walls in two hours (and I'm talking every step, from taping and sanding the walls to painting), and then once that was dry, we added the Tranquil Dawn design in a matter of minutes. The whole process took less than twenty-four hours and was so much less disruptive than redecorating can be!”
