Exploring different colour combinations is the most exciting part of decorating and this is where the Tailor Made Colour unit becomes even more useful. In the previous section we worked in one colour area creating tonal colour schemes. Now we will show you how you can use the unit to put different colours together.

Because the colours are separated out into moods you can be sure that two colours from the same mood will work beautifully together.

We previously found that Gipsy Bloom was the closest colour to our sofa fabric. So, because Gipsy Bloom is within the warm mood any of the colours in that mood will work with it - for example Wholemeal Honey or Inky Pool.

If you want to see colours working together, then simply turn one of the colour cards upside down and select the colour the same way as we did before.

When you come to find the closest stripe card to your colour you may find that it sits in the rich family. All of the colours within these stripe cards are quite intense, so you may feel that creating a colour from one card may be too bold for you.

Rich colours are like rich food, a little bit will probably be enough. For a softer colour scheme you can use the colour cards directly below your starting colour.
