Weathershield Exterior Preservative Primer+

Penetrates deep into wood to seal and preserve against water damage. Guaranteed to provide 6 year weathering durability, when used as part of the full Weathershield exterior paints system.

Surface preparation

Make sure that all surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry. Before preparing any surface for painting, read the information below about old lead based paints.

How to use

Shake container thoroughly before use. Pour a sufficient amount of primer for the job in hand into a suitable metal container. Do not use direct from the container or return any used primer to the can as it will contaminate any remaining primer. Then apply 1 coat by brush to all bare wood, paying particular attention to all end grain and open joints. Weathershield Exterior Preservative Primer is recoatable with Weathershield Exterior Undercoat within 2 hours or after fully dry which is 16-24 hours. Finish with an appropriate Weathershield Exterior Paint system.

FOR USE ONLY AS A WOOD PRESERVATIVE.
Apply by brush at a rate of up to 1 litre of product per 20 square metres of wood (approximately).
Wear suitable protective clothing. Wear suitable gloves. DO NOT CONTAMINATE FOODSTUFFS, EATING UTENSILS OR FOOD CONTACT SURFACES. COVER WATER STORAGE TANKS before application.
THIS MATERIAL AND ITS CONTAINER must be disposed of in a safe way.
UNPROTECTED PERSONS AND ANIMALS SHOULD BE KEPT AWAY FROM TREATED AREAS FOR 48 HOURS OR UNTIL SURFACES ARE DRY. FOR OUTDOOR USE ONLY. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting: seek medical advice immediately and show this container or label. DANGEROUS TO FISH AND OTHER AQUATIC LIFE.
Do not contaminate ground, waterbodies or watercourses with chemicals or used container. Do not empty into drains. Use only in well ventilated areas. Do not breathe vapour. Avoid release to the environment. Refer to special instructions/safety data sheets.
AVOID ALL CONTACT WITH PLANT LIFE. ALL BATS ARE PROTECTED UNDER THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981. BEFORE TREATING ANY STRUCTURE USED BY BATS, CONSULT ENGLISH NATURE, SCOTTISH NATURAL HERITAGE OR THE COUNTRYSIDE COUNCIL FOR WALES. ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS FOR PROFESSIONAL OPERATORS: The (COSHH) Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 may apply to the use of this product at work. Engineering control of operator exposure must be used where reasonably practicable in addition to the items of personal protective equipment. However, engineering controls may replace personal protective equipment if a COSHH assessment shows that they provide an equal or higher standard of protection. AVOID EXCESSIVE CONTAMINATION OF COVERALLS AND LAUNDER REGULARLY. READ ALL PRECAUTIONS BEFORE USE. HSE No 6983.

Harmful: may cause lung damage if swallowed. Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking.
Harmful to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment.
Contains dichlofluanid. May produce an allergic reaction. Keep away from sources of ignition–No smoking.
WASH ANY CONTAMINATION from skin or eyes immediately. WASH HANDS AND EXPOSED SKIN before meals and after use.
Keep only in the original container. Keep container tightly closed. KEEP IN A SAFE PLACE.
Keep out of the reach of children. When applying it is advisable to wear eye protection.

This product is approved under The Control of Pesticides Regulations 1986 (as amended) for
use as directed. HSE No. 6983. Some local authorities have special facilities for disposal of waste product. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.
