Surface preparation
To get the best results with Dulux Once Soft Sheen Emulsion, make sure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean and dry (new surfaces particularly must be fully dry).
General preparation: Remove any loose or flaking paint. Where necessary, wash the surface to remove dirt, grease etc. Rub down to remove any 'sheen' then wipe off dust with a damp lint free cloth. Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding. Seal new, bare and porous surfaces, including previously unpainted patterned textured surfaces (e.g. ceilings coated with ARTEX texturing compound) with Dulux Plaster Sealer.
When redecorating new buildings for the first time, particularly if the building has a plasterboard finish, it is advisable to apply a coat of Dulux Plaster Sealer first, as this type of surface remains very absorbent and will be difficult to paint.
Any surface defects must be filled with the appropriate Polycell Polyfilla.
Painting wallcoverings: Check wallpapers are suitable for painting. The paper must be clean and free from paste residues. When painting new or unpainted papers, seal first with Dulux Plaster Sealer.
How to use
Do not stir before use. For best results on large areas and textured surfaces, apply using a good quality medium pile roller. A small brush can be used for corners and edges.
Load the brush or a medium pile roller generously with paint. Apply a thick, even coat of paint taking care not to spread the paint too far. Failure to do so may require the application of a second coat, particularly when overcoating a darker colour with a lighter topcoat. Where this occurs and it is necessary to apply a second coat, allow a minimum of 6 hours before overcoating. When conditions are colder, more time must be allowed for the first coat to dry fully.
If areas have been missed during application, these may be touched up rather than overcoating the whole area as the paint will dry to match the original coat. Allow a minimum of 6 hours before touching up.
Precautions: Do not use Dulux Once Emulsion on radiators and other heated surfaces. Areas that suffer from condensation should be painted with Dulux Kitchen or Dulux Bathroom instead.

Ensure good ventilation during application and drying.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. When painting it is advisable to wear eye protection. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of soap and water or a proprietary skin cleanser. Do not use solvent, thinners or white spirit.
Keep out of the reach of children. Do not use or store by hanging on a hook. Do not empty into drains or watercourses. Some local authorities have special facilities for disposing of waste paint.

This product contains no added lead. However, the wood and metal surfaces of the building, especially if it is pre-1960, may have been decorated in the past with a paint made with lead pigments. Preparation and removal of such paint can be hazardous.
