Metal Primer

Ideal for most new or bare metal surfaces inside and outside. It is specially formulated to inhibit rust and provide adhesion ready for painting.

Surface preparation

Ensure surfaces to be painted are sound (i.e. not flaking and are sanded down), clean and dry. Avoid the inhalation of dust. Wear a suitable face mask if dry sanding.
Before surface preparation, read the information in the Safety, Health and Environmental information section about old lead based paints.
New galvanised steel should be left to weather and become dull before painting or a specialist primer should be used.
Remove loose corrosion from metal.
Radiators must be turned off and only painted when cold.

How to use

Apply 1 coat of Dulux Metal Primer. When fully dry, after about 6 hours, apply an appropriate Dulux paint system.

FLAMMABLE
Repeated exposure may cause skin dryness or cracking. Contains cobalt carboxylate and ethyl methyl ketoxime. May produce an allergic reaction.
Keep away from sources of ignition. no smoking. Contains white spirit. Use only in well ventilated areas. Inside always keep doors and windows fully open during application and drying. Do not use on large surface areas or in confined spaces.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. When painting it is advisable to wear eye protection. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of soap and water or a proprietary skin cleanser. Do not use solvent, thinners or white spirit. Keep out of the reach of children. Do not empty into drains or watercourses. Some local authorities have special facilities for disposing of waste paint.

This product contains no added lead.
However, the wood and metal surfaces of the building, especially if it is pre-1960, may have been decorated in the past with a paint made with lead pigments. Preparation and removal of such paint can be hazardous.
