The soothing nature of blue makes it perfect for bedrooms. By combining Sapphire Springs 1 with the delicate duck egg blue of Jewelled Creek 3, a softer effect is created. We have combined these shades with edgy Night Jewels 1 to create a crisp frame to the doors and windows for an almost oriental look.

Using the palette

Deep period skirting boards are a wonderfully dramatic feature, so we have created a modern alternative by taking a tone of the velvety floor colour up the walls for an equally striking effect.

The deeper tones of Sapphire Springs embody the deep blue darkness of a crisp winter's night, and the poetically melancholic blues of cosy-up winter days are expressed in the lighter Sapphire Springs shades. Even before they became catwalk-cool, blues were my favourite colours. I use them in design schemes frequently and have just specified Sapphire Springs 3 to create a kind of hot/cool blue wall for a client's study, making it both stimulating and meditative.
