Revive the opulent style of the Victorians in your home. Everything was very ornate and intensely decorated in this period and three part colour schemes were very popular, with dramatic combinations like, DH Drab, DH Salmon and Buff or Yellow Ochre, Sage Green and French Grey. The Victorians used the stronger colours such as Red Ochre and Chrome Green in dining rooms, and libraries as these were perceived to be important. If you don't fancy painting all your room in these intense colours, then think about creating a contemporary twist on the colours and painting a feature wall and teaming a deep red with a classic white. For sitting rooms, and bedrooms use lighter brighter tones, like Sea Green or DH Salmon. |
