Green has become the symbol for environmentalism. It is the colour of nature so with our growing awareness surrounding sustainability, colour inspired by our natural environment soothes our minds.

Green brings nature indoors creating a botanical setting filled with tranquillity. In the home, green is perfect for refreshing and revitalising a room. This colour works particularly well where serenity is desired like within bedrooms, bathrooms and living rooms.

For a delicate effect, start with soft olive tones which can create understated living rooms. Calming jades are perfect for bathrooms offering a relaxing environment for you to unwind. Vibrant limes will add some energy to your room and look particularly contemporary when combined with cool neutrals like grey.

Greens are becoming both calmer and cooler reflecting our concern for family and the environment.

Cool jades and green teas are key, with a serene and sophisticated quality. They add an extra dimension to your home that is both creative and nurturing. The blue based greens like Soft Fauna 3 encourage a peaceful atmosphere that allows us to relax and feel at home.

In previous years we saw sharp modern greens which gave a creative and cultural edge to a sustainable and eco influenced palette.

Botanical yellow-based greens add a touch of futuristic energy which are reminiscent of both jungle and the laboratory. Whether they are soft and gentle (Forest Lake 3) or bright and advancing (Indian Ivy 5), both shades will add radiance to your room.

Acidic, modern greens work well with cool grey tones to create a strong statement. The grey really balances the greens intensity and creates an interesting contrast between nature and technology. When using a paler green like Soft Apple on your walls you could try adding strong zesty greens (Woodland Fern 3) and yellows (Sulphur Springs 5) through small accessories like side tables and cushions to create lively space.

Here we have made a feature out of the woodwork by painting the bookcase and table in a vibrant green (Indian Ivy 6).

Muted greens inspired by aloe, cactus and herbs offer subtle shades which can be combined beautifully.
