Yellow, known for its optimism, has always been clear, bright and uplifting.

Traditionally, women wore yellow ribbons to symbolise hope as they waited for their loved ones to return from war.

Pure and bright, yellow is the easiest colour to see. Because of its high visibility, yellow is often used to issue warning within nature, found on wasps and bees to warn predators.

The colour reflects warmth whilst encouraging inspiration and expression. Yellow is used to energise whilst still being soothing and sophisticated.

Within interiors, yellow lightens and welcomes. It helps to expand any space, a perfect solution for dark hallways and small rooms. To create a soft, inviting look, start with classic creamy yellows which will bring warmth to spaces with limited light. For something more lively, experiment with stronger, mustard yellows and cool greys to create a really dynamic room.

Coloured glass vases and unusual bottles accessorise this open plan space well by adding some rich shots of deep green and bold yellow.

The warmer side of yellow can really illuminate your room. Combine radiant shades like Lemon Pie and Pale Citrus with soft creams like Timeless to create a contemporary look. Light wooden features compliment this colour scheme perfectly by adding even more warmth.

Striking, acidic yellows with a zesty feel create a contemporary style within any room. Strong mustard yellows can be used as an accent and work especially well with cool neutrals like grey or even with white. Try adding a subtle secondary colour like a green pastel (Willow Creek 5) which will compliment the vibrant yellow of Spring Breeze 3 beautifully.
