Cleaning

Dulux PaintPod Roller SystemOne of the fastest and easiest ways to clean your decorating equipment is to use the Dulux PaintPod Roller System.

Once you have finished painting with the power assisted roller, the integrated cleaning system automatically cleans the roller sleeve and PaintPod unit meaning no more time wasted at the sink with messy rollers and trays. Plus, you only need 5-10% of the water to clean PaintPod, whereas you could use to up to 150 litres when cleaning a standard roller* meaning you can significantly reduce water waste.

*Based on UK average water pressure and 10 minutes cleaning time.

How do I clean brushes and rollers?

If you intend to carry on with the job later or tomorrow, you might not have to clean your brushes/rollers yet. Just put them in an airtight plastic bag with masking tape or elastic bands around the handle to keep them sealed. This will keep them perfectly supple overnight.

When you do come to clean, follow these tips:

Water-based paints

When you have finished decorating, if you have been using water-based paints just wash the equipment with soapy water and rinse. Remember to use water in a container rather than wasting running water from the tap.

Solvent-based paints

Unfortunately, solvent-based paints will require the use of solvent cleaners which themselves release VOCs when used. To minimise the amount of cleaning agent used always scrape as much excess paint off the equipment as possible onto newspaper and dispose of it responsibly, then use a container only slightly larger than the brush itself in which to clean it.
